Looking Glass Wines

Jane Osborne

Jane has been involved with the wine industry since 1984. Having completed a BHSc in Consumer and Applied Science at Otago University, she attended Roseworthy College, before heading to the UK and working with Majestic Wine Warehouse.

Back in New Zealand, Jane worked for a small consortium importing regional French wines. It was then, that she also wrote for the newly established Cuisine Magazine.

Jane has 25 years of marketing and and sales experience, culminating in the role of National Sales Manager of Negociants New Zealand. Jane has also been involved with Peter Maude - importer and distributor of premium Bordeaux and Burgundy wines.

During the 90s, Jane was involved with the establishment of the Bullrush Vineyard, in Hawkes Bay New Zealand. This was planted predominantly in red varieties Grenache, Shiraz, and Cabernet Sauvignon. Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc was also produced and marketed. Bullrush was later owned by Matua Valley, and then Fosters.

Until her return to Australia in 2004, Jane had been involved in various wine judging including Senior Wine Judge, Air New Zealand Competition.

Friends, family, food, wine and socialising are all important to Jane, as is professionalism, integrity and respect for those in the industry.

The involvement of winemaker, and husband, Mark Robertson, together with Jane, provides a synergy of winemaking, industry knowledge and marketing which are integral to Looking Glass Wines.

They are fortunate to be involved with others in grape growing, winemaking and production, who are equally passionate and professional in the approach to wine.
